Random Thoughts

I have had a wonderful Spring Break week. It's given me quite a thirst for summer. This week, I have caught up with friends and done a few things around the house (yes more pictures will come soon! I promise... I'm ALMOST finished decorating, for now). One long lost friend I have caught up with is Jordan, as in Crossing Jordan. It's one of my favorite shows that is no longer new. I love to watch reruns on A & E. Silly, I know... but it's been great to see her again!

I've also been working around the house; cleaning, putting stuff away, decorating.

Been thinking about switching sites of the blog... can't decide. Any thoughts?

Braves game

Chris and I went to the Braves game Sunday. We actually tried to go Friday night, too. It was postponed due to rain. Sunday's game was a good game. Smoltz v. Santana ... two of the greatest pitchers out there.

Chris gave me a zoom lens for my new camera. So, we had a lot of fun playing around with it and taking pictures. We were sitting on the 3rd base side, close to the foul pole. (just to kind of give you an idea of where we were). Oh, we were 22 rows back too...

In the meantime, Chris and I participated in the Great Urban Race in Atlanta on Saturday. It's kinda like the Amazing Race, just it's all in one city... and you don't have to eat anything gross. Here are the pictures from it. There aren't a whole lot, but we had a fantabulous time! We started in Midtown at Front Page. We had to solve clues and complete tasks, which took us all over midtown, downtown and Buckhead. It poured on us and we got soaked. We also discovered or learned some names of parks around town. And, you'll never believe who we ran in to... Amber and Rebecca! What a small world! :) As part of the race, you had to dress like your partner. Chris and I weren't too creative... just UGA fans (basically). Karen and Andy worked with us, they were graduates. It was hilarious because all day people were yelling Congratulations to them. We saw some interesting costumes of other participants. There were Smurfs (yes they were painted blue), babies (guys in diapers... eek!), and even the Barbie Bandits.

to a computer near you... PICTURES of our renovations! We have been working very hard (and I mean VERY hard) to get our floors done. We moved everything off of the floors (stuck stuff in bathrooms, garage and kitchen), pulled the carpet up, pulled staples out of the floor (I HATE STAPLES!), sanded the floors, stained them, put 3 coats of polyerthane down on the floors (sanded in between coats), pulled the old baseboards off, put new ones on, painted the 3 bedrooms, and I'm almost done painting the new baseboards. I have gotten to use a drum sander (it's very big), two different types of nail guns, pliers, hand sanders and paintbrushes. I am very glad that I'm not in the field of physical labor. :)

As soon as I find the router, I will post pictures of our work!

These days...

These days... there's lots going on. I started my last class of my specialist program last night. I have 7 more weeks before I'm DONE and will graduate! Of course, I have a few papers and presentations for this class, as well as putting together a portfolio (that's due at the end of the month). The end IS in sight!!!

This Saturday, we are pulling the carpet up and refinishing the hardwoods that are underneath. We are also getting granite countertops put in next week in the kitchen. I'm slightly stressing at the fact that we have to move all our stuff off of the carpet. Not very sure where we will put it all, but I guess we'll find somewhere to put it. (Be on the lookout for pictures... they will be coming!)

Also, Chris is training constantly. His first race is the end of April. We will celebrate our anniversary by going to St. Petersburg, Fl. again. Unfortunately we won't be staying at the Vinoy like we did last year. But we're excited about going! :) We had a wonderful time last year and we're looking forward to another fun time.

TEAM IN TRAINING

Chris has signed up for TNT again. He's doing another triathlon with them. This time, we're headed for Austin, TX at the end of May.

Also, this time around, he's mentoring some of the other participants. We are going back to the St. Anthony's triathlon in April, as well as a few others. He's just doing those on his own, as a part of the Peachtree Triathlon Club.

We will also be hosting (I assume) another cocktail party to raise money for TNT. If you are interested in purchasing a cake from me (proceeds to go to TNT), let me know.
