GOOOOOOO DAWGS!

We headed to Athens yesterday for the football season opener. Chris graduated from Ga Southern, so it was the only game where he does not cheer for the Dawgs. He had to train in the morning, so we were late (later than normal). We ended up parking at the house and walking to the stadium (I forgot how steep Baxter is after a game). We had a great time, even though it was hot as hades out there!

Thoughts

So, do you ever relate certain songs to people or a time in your life? I hear songs on the radio and am taken back to a time in my life. Which makes me think of certain people and puts me in a bit of a reminiscent mood.

Recently I became friends with a bunch of old friends from high school. In checking out pictures, I was reminded of another old friend. I think someone (I can't remember if it was Drena or Melissa) that posted about old boyfriends and wondering where they are? Anyway, this old friend, I guess was a boyfriend at some point... I mean we dated... but we were pretty much always really close. In fact, I'd probably consider him one of my best friends. But I wonder why we aren't friends anymore... where he is and what is he doing? Does he have kids now?

It makes me sad to think of him now because I haven't heard from him in almost 5 years. The last time I heard from him was the day before my mom died. He had responded to an email that I had sent (with an update on my mom) and said that he was there for me and to let him know if I needed anything. Well, my mom died... and he wasn't there and he didn't send a card or anything. And, I don't know what happened to him. I mean, he's fine... I know he's around (I saw him in pictures on facebook... he's not on facebook, but mutual friends are). Anyway, it just makes me sad.

Georgia Vets Triathlon

So, Saturday Chris participated in the Georgia Vets Triathlon in Cordele. It's a sprint distance, meaning that it's only a 400 yd swim, a 13.6 mile bike, and a 5K run. This was his first sprint and his goal was to complete the race in an hour and 15 minutes. Well, he did really well... he finished in an hour and seven minutes!

After the race, a guy came up to me and asked if I had been there since the start of the race. Which of course, I had been. Turns out, he works for the Cordele Dispatch (the daily newspaper) and he was late. So.....

REAL quick!

I have some great pictures and a great story from the weekend... all revolving around Chris's triathlon. (He did GREAT!) I will hopefully post pictures and write more tonight! I was hoping to get to it yesterday but helped to host a baby shower for a dear friend and just didn't get on the computer at all yesterday.

I will say for all my friends that were at the shower yesterday, it was WONDERFUL to see you all. I love when we have a reason to all come together (since we're all so spread out) and wished we had more opportunities to all hang out. AND I'm already looking forward to our next opportunity!

2 days down 178 to go!

So, the first two days have been a bizarre experience for me. Most of you know this is my first year in a new position. I'm no longer a classroom teacher, but considered a resource teacher (meaning, I pull kids out for classes) in GIFTED. So... I've taught for 10 years, always having a class that starts the first day of school. Well, I now have car rider duty in the morning... (which means I open car doors and make sure the car riders get in the building safely). Yesterday was a zoo... lots of parents came to register, so I spent most of the morning directing traffic. THEN, I helped out with the actual registration. I also had the privilege of helping kindergarteners during lunch... directing them through the lunch line, to their class's table and to the trash when their time was up. Quite an experience!!!

Today was not quite as hectic. There were not as many people registering, so I did not have to help as long. I did help with lunch again, and after a day... they were starting to get the hang of it! So cute!

So tired

This week is always the most exhausting week ever. Long days at school... working, arranging, organizing, meetings, etc... This week, I started my new position. Which also means, I was pulled to help out in a lot of areas that I wouldn't normally be pulled to help.

Tuesday morning, I woke up and as I got ready for school gradually felt my eye start to feel like it was straining. Three years ago, I got my eyes checked and was given glasses because the doctor felt that my eyes were overworking themselves. (20/10 vision)... so my glasses were for reading. Well, I got home Tuesday and put the glasses on and have worn them ever since. When I take them off, my eye starts hurting... when they're on... not so much. Guess I should go to the doctor huh?

Today was registration. I had the pleasure of filling in for a first grade teacher who wasn't able to be there today. I use the word pleasure very loosely. Can I just say that I'm exhausted?

Where does the time go?

I had all these things I had planned to do over the summer. Touch up painting around the house... a few craft projects, visiting friends and family, etc... How many of those things did I get done? Um... not many! Where does the time go?

Today is my last official day of summer. I probably ought to go up to my school to work in my classroom (I was up there yesterday and left it a disaster). BUT, I also need to clean the house because my in-laws are coming for the weekend. And I would like to enjoy my last day of "freedom" and possibly get a few things done that I wanted to do this summer. Where does the time go?
